HOW TO SET UP MICROSOFT FORMS TIMED QUIZ

How to Use the Timed Quiz Feature in Microsoft Forms

Microsoft Forms is a great tool for creating quizzes, surveys, and polls. But did you know that you can also set a time limit for your quizzes? This can be useful for educators who want to assess their students’ knowledge and skills under a certain time pressure. In this post, I will show you how to use the timed quiz feature in Microsoft Forms and what it looks like for the quiz takers.

Step 1: Create your quiz and set the time duration

First, you need to create your quiz in Microsoft Forms. You can add different types of questions, such as multiple choice, text, rating, and more. You can also add images, videos, and math expressions to make your quiz more engaging.

Once you have created your quiz, you need to set the time duration for it. To do this, click on the three-dot (…) menu in the upper right corner and choose Settings. Then, check the box that says Set time duration. You can choose how many minutes you want your quiz to last, from 1 to 999. Note that editing is not allowed after the timer ends and the answers will be automatically submitted when the timer is up. This will also be shown to the quiz takers before they start the quiz.

Step 2: Collect responses and copy the link

Next, you need to collect responses from your quiz takers. You can do this by clicking on the Collect responses tab and choosing the option that suits your needs. You can share your quiz via email, QR code, embed code, or link. For this example, I will choose the link option and copy the link to my quiz.

Step 3: See what the quiz takers see

Finally, you can see what the quiz takers see when they take your timed quiz. When they open the link, they will see a message that tells them that this is a timed form and how much time they have. It also tells them that once they start, they can’t pause the timer, but Forms will give them a final minute reminder before their submission. They will also see a timer on the top right corner of the screen that counts down the remaining time. They can click on it to make it smaller or bigger. When they are done, they can click on Submit to send their answers. They can also view their results and see how much time they took.

That’s it! You have learned how to use the timed quiz feature in Microsoft Forms.
